CREATE RELAUNCHED

Mobile Media Young Cre8ives

A Nationwide Building Society and First Light Film Project for Swindon.

Thanks to all the fantastic work created by the 3000 participants, over 20 media artists, hundreds of youth workers and teachers (not to mention the dedicated Mobile Media team). ACE had the confidence in our groundbreaking track record to award Mobile Media £30,000 to deliver another programme of work – as always targeting people who may not have opportunities to participate in arts and media work in any other way – and as always pushing back artistic boundaries.

The focus this time was on smaller, longer, projects to give participants a more in depth experience. Also, there was a new emphasis on bringing a wider range of professional artistic   backgrounds to the project, by training people with unique artistic skills but no previous experience of work with young people.

Mobile Media kicked off in the movie business, supporting over 50 young first time filmmakers as they worked with industry professionals, learning:

  • scriptwriting
  • filming
  • and editing skills.

Using the latest digital technology, they produced three powerful yet diverse films drawing together enduring themes of friendship and loyalty.

Mixing It

In this documentary, made with filmmaker Gurchetan Singh, the Caribbean Saturday Club explore a feast of delights: Caribbean food, hair and traditional stories.

Horror High

The Commonweal School Dyslexia Unit worked with Script Consultant David Collier to realise their ideas for a sci-fi drama. Working alongside animators Evil Twin Artworks, pupils used cutting edge computer visual effects to create awesome aliens!

Icehouse

Hreod Parkway School Boffin Club wrote and shot a phsychological drama, Icehouse, working with filmaker Keith Philips and Cameraman Phil Ball. The group authored a unique and sensitive screenplay with David Collier acting as Script Consultant.
