The Boffin Club completed their training in film making in style on the 28 February 2006, as they networked with stars at the prestigious First Light Awards in Leicester Square and won their category of Best Thriller, surpassing the crème of young film making talent from around the country with their film Icehouse.
The girls were presented with their award by world famous Hollywood Director, Anthony Minghella who directed The English Patient.
With praise coming from First Light judge, the exhilarating stunt coordinator Vic Armstrong.
He loved the film’s “really good performances and brilliant photography and art direction”.
Mobile Media Director, Shahina Johnson said, “We are thrilled with the achievement of the Boffin Club with their film Icehouse. Our work is all about creating opportunities for young people to gain skills in digital arts, and gain confidence in their abilities. The Boffin Club have grasped this opportunity wholeheartedly, and have already seen their film screened at youth film festivals around the country."
Keith Philips, tutor on the Icehouse, passed on his praise. "HUGE congratulations to the Boffins on winning Best Thriller at the First Light Film Awards in London with their film, Icehouse!!!
